April Lecture with Delbert DeWitty
On April 10th, Delbert DeWitty will be joining us for two events discussing African and African American world history and its connections to Middle Tennessee. At noon, there will be a lunch and learn session. This session is free to attend with a suggested donation to Travellers Rest and you can bring your own lunch to enjoy while hearing from Mr. DeWitty. In the evening, he will once again be discussing local and regional connections to African and African American world history, and at this session charcuterie and refreshments will be provided.
Delbert DeWitty is a retired Information Technology Corporate Officer who spent 40 years with Southwestern Bell, AT&T, Maritz, and FedEx before teaching a Pre-Release class to reduce Recidivism with the Colorado Department of Corrections. He currently serves on the Board of Directors with Descendants of DeWitty, a non-profit specializing in African and African American History. His historical research includes extensive travel throughout the African Continent including tracing the steps of the African Moors invasion of Europe in 711 AD. The 400 Years of African American History was established by Congress in 2018and partnered with Descendants of DeWitty to summarize African and African American history using Overton/DeWitty family linage as a foundation.
